What conservatory cleaning actually involves
What it is
A full conservatory clean: polycarbonate or glass roof panels, UPVC frames, gutters between the panels, and the glass itself. Interior clean available on request.
Who it's for
Anyone who's noticed their conservatory has gone from a bright room to a dim, green-tinted one. Especially common on north-facing or tree-shaded conservatories.
When you need it
Every 1–2 years is typical. Sooner if you're under trees, or if the roof has visibly gone green.
Why do it properly
A grubby conservatory roof cuts light transmission by 30–50%. Cleaning it isn't cosmetic — it changes how much light and warmth actually reaches the room.
What happens if you leave it
Every job we quote for is easier — and cheaper — than the one that follows it. Here's what tends to happen when this gets ignored.
Algae on the roof cuts your light in half
That green tinge on polycarbonate panels isn't just ugly — it's blocking a huge amount of light. Conservatories are supposed to bring the outside in; a dirty roof does the opposite.
Dirt in the roof gutters causes leaks
The narrow channels between conservatory roof panels block up with silt and moss. Once they overflow, water finds its way into the conservatory itself — often blamed on 'a leaking roof' when the real fix is a clean.
Neglected frames age the whole room
You can put fresh furniture, blinds and paint inside a conservatory and it'll still look tired if the frames are grey and the roof is green. It's the outside that dates the whole space.
Our process
The same repeatable system on every job — so you know exactly what you're paying for and exactly what you're getting.

Optional interior glass clean
Interior glass and frames done on request.
What you actually get out of it
Concrete outcomes — not vague promises.
Light restored
The single biggest change — the room brightens up immediately.
Leaks often solved
Clearing the panel gutters fixes the majority of 'roof leak' complaints.
No walking on the roof
Reach-and-pole system — no risk of a cracked panel.
Frames back to bright white
UPVC oxidation reversed with the same chemistry we use on fascias.
One trade, one visit
Roof, panels, gutters, frames and glass — done together.
Interior on request
Add the inside clean if you want the whole room reset at once.
The detail most companies skip
Polycarbonate vs glass roofs
Polycarbonate panels take a slightly softer method because the surface is easier to scratch than glass. Glass roofs get the same reach-and-pole treatment we use on windows, with extra care around seals and flashings.
The 'leaking conservatory' myth
Nine times out of ten, a conservatory that leaks in heavy rain doesn't have a broken seal — it has blocked gutters between the roof panels. Clear those and the leak stops. It's one of the easiest wins in exterior cleaning.
Frame chemistry, not scrubbing
UPVC frames on conservatories oxidise the same way fascias do. We use a specialist cleaner that lifts the oxidation without abrasive scrubbing — same product family as our fascia work.
Combining with roof cleaning
Doing conservatory cleaning at the same time as a full roof clean saves a callout — we're already on site and set up. It's the most efficient way to book both.
Frequently asked questions
How much does conservatory cleaning cost?+
Standalone conservatory cleans typically fall between £80 and £180 depending on size, roof type and how heavy the growth is. Bigger Victorian-style or lean-to structures are quoted per site.
How long does it take?+
Most domestic conservatories are 1–2 hours for a full exterior clean. Adding the interior adds around an hour.
Will you damage the polycarbonate panels?+
No — the reach-and-pole system means no one walks on the roof. The soft brush is safe on both polycarbonate and glass.
Can you fix my leaking conservatory?+
In most cases, yes — because most 'leaks' are actually blocked panel gutters. If yours turns out to be a proper seal failure, we'll flag it after the clean.
Do you clean the inside too?+
On request — interior glass and frame cleaning is available as an add-on.
How often should conservatories be cleaned?+
Every 1–2 years for exterior. More often if it's under trees or north-facing.
Do you cover Swansea and Cardiff?+
Yes — across all our South Wales postcodes including Cardiff, Swansea, Bridgend, Neath, Port Talbot, Porthcawl and the Vale.
Can I book it with my window clean?+
Yes — if you're already on our window round, conservatory cleaning slots in easily. Just ask.
